The Going Beyond Assistance Fund provides tax-free grants of up to $2,500 to eligible HCSG employees and their immediate families during times of unexpected hardship. GBAF grants are not loans and never need to be repaid. They are made possible through the generosity of employees, donors, and supporters across our HCSG community. Life is unpredictable, and we are here to help when the unexpected happens.

Eligibility Guidelines

To be eligible for assistance, employees must meet minimum requirements, including:

Be employed with HCSG for at least 6 continuous months
Work a minimum average of 20 hours per week
Be experiencing a qualifying unexpected hardship
Provide supporting documentation related to the request

Please note: Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee approval. GBAF is not an emergency assistance program and may not be able to provide immediate financial support.

Life is unpredictable, and we are here to help when the unexpected happens. Qualifying situations may include, but are not limited to:

Medical Emergencies: Critical illness, sudden injury, or urgent medical needs.
Natural Disasters: Recovering from floods, fires, hurricanes, or other environmental crises.
Housing Security: Facing the loss of a home or the shut-off of essential utilities.
Family Loss: Navigating the financial strain following the death of a close family member.
Safety & Protection: Support for victims of violent crime or domestic abuse.
Unforeseen Events: Other non-routine financial hardships that create an immediate need.

How We Review Your Request

We treat every story with the dignity and privacy it deserves. Our process is designed to be as supportive as possible:

  1. Confidential Application: Submit your information through our secure online form.
  2. Compassionate Review: A dedicated committee of nine HCSG employees reviews each application. They look at every request with care and collective input to determine the most impactful grant amount for your needs.
  3. Personal Connection: A team member will reach out for a confidential conversation to better understand your unique situation and documentation.
  4. Decision & Payment: Applicants are notified directly regarding the outcome of their application. If approved, grant payments are typically distributed within 2–3 business days.

Timeline Expectations

Application timing varies depending on application volume, documentation received, and available resources.

Applications are generally reviewed in the order they are received, and every application receives individualized attention throughout the process.
